Open Source Rollup for Week #29

As promised last week, this week we definitely did quite a lot more on GitHub.

In this week’s changes was one new forked repository: lookout/redstorm which contains some of our patches on top of the redstorm project. We will be talking a lot more about redstorm, a JRuby binding to Storm, in a few weeks at JRubyConf EU.

In addition to that fork, this week saw some nice updates to ngx_borderpatrol. The edge-authentication service is going to be incorporating LuaJIT which should improve performance quite a bit. Some work is still on-going however.

This week also saw some minor updates of Elementary RPC, lookout-rack-utils and FactoryJS.

The raw numbers:

  • 6 issues created
  • 14 git pushes
  • 4 pull requests created
  • 1 repositories forked
  • 1 commit comments

Open Source Rollup for Week #28

It’s been kind of a quiet week for open source at Lookout. Due to some cosmic anomaly we only touched two of our open source repositories this week: FactoryJS and lookout-rack-test.

We’ll have to do better next week!

The raw numbers:

  • 4 git pushes
  • 2 pull requests created
  • 2 issues created

Open Source Rollup for Week #27

With the July 4th holiday occurring this week, Lookout engineering was running at lowered capacity as many of us decided to take some much needed time off. Regardless, we still had a decent amount of activity on GitHub.

The majority of the open source work this week was focused on two repositories, Oraculum which we discussed last week and Elementary RPC.

While Oraculum didn’t gain much more code or functionality this past week, it gained more documentation, which is arguably more important for a new project like Oraculum.

Elementary is a Ruby gem that aims to provide a “simple, async client library for interacting with Protobuf RPC servers.” This week version 1.0.0 was released to Rubygems.org. You can learn more about how to use the gem from the project’s README.

The raw numbers for the week:

  • 8 git pushes
  • 6 pull requests created
  • 1 issues created
  • 2 repositories forked
